We’ve had this house since January 2005… and it has been a fabulous season, but it’s time to move on.

Our property is extremely central. Sandton, Rosebank, Randburg, Cresta and Hyde Park are all a short drive away. Joburg city is a 15 minute drive (in good traffic). We’re close to Gautrain bus routes.
We’re a 3 minute walk from Blairgowrie Shopping Centre (Woolies Foods, Spar, restaurants, etc).
The main house is spacious and open-plan (we’ve never liked long, dark, narrow corridors).
Downstairs: kitchen and lounge area leading on to a large dining area and another multi-functional area which could be used for anything (currently used as a mini-gallery for some of my paintings). It’s spacious enough to hold small gatherings or concerts (and we have).
The dining area has sliding doors leading out to the back garden. The lounge has underfloor heating and a fireplace which keeps the temperature manageable during chilly winter months.
Also downstairs are 3 bedrooms (one of them has built-in cupboards, shelves & desk and is currently used as my office). All 3 bedrooms have parquet floors and built-in cupboards. The one I’m using as an office has an en-suite bathroom and a separate entrance which leads onto the back garden.
There are 2 bathrooms downstairs. One has a shower and one has a bath.
Upstairs: Upstairs is the main bedroom with en-suite bathroom (nice big tub and a shower). It also has built-in cupboards and big windows which look directly into the greenery of our huge tree (in the back yard). When you’re in bed… you look out onto leaves, branches and birds! 🙂
Also upstairs is a private little lounge (where we watch our Netflix) and a loft area which could be used as a studio, a study or a play area.
We have a separate cottage with lounge, kitchen (with an open counter overlooking the lounge), bathroom (with bath/shower combo) and 1 bedroom which has doors leading out onto the back garden.
We use the cottage for work… so it comes fully kitted with network cables, wifi units, etc. Speaking of wifi – our house is connected to fibre… which means a super-fast connection at really reasonable rates (Vumatel).
The cottage has it’s own entrance and it’s own courtyard.
In the back garden, we also have a large “wendy house” (divided into 2 rooms). We currently use it as a storeroom.
PARKING & SECURITY:
The house is fully walled with an electric gate. There’s undercover parking for 4 cars. Both the house and the cottage are fitted with an alarm system.
We have a spacious garden in the front and at the back. Lots of big trees and green, growing things. We don’t have a pool. The public pool at Blairgowrie Rec Centre is 2 blocks away.
In summary… we love this house. If we could pack it up in a box and move it to the coast… we would. We love the open plan space… the light… the creative vibe. But our Joburg Season is over… and so we’re saying goodbye.
